On May 15, BPRC participated in the Eisenhower Ninth Grade School (Ike 9) College Prep Higher Learning Field Trip and Life Skills Workshop. The purpose of the workshop was to introduce students to essential skills and opportunities critical to their growth and development into productive adults. The organizers of the Life Skills Workshop asked if BPRC would purchase ties for the campus outreach. Tyrone Tompkins and Leon Best promised to resource the students with ties, but asked if they could also teach a session about life. The organizers were excited about their suggestion and created two time slots for the “Becoming Whole” seminar. Tyrone, Leon and volunteer Dr. Mackale Joyner helped students explore the value of becoming a complete person that is strong mentally, physically, and spiritually.
